Harry Conrad Schooner or Beckwith?
Built in 1871, this 132 foot coal schooner lasted less than a year delivering between Maryland and New York. The 3-masted schooner sank due to a collision with another unidentified schooner during a fierce snow squall on the night of March 4 1872. The captain, Rodney Parker with his family and crew survived the raw winter night until they were picked up by the steamship Albemarle the next morning. It would interesting to positively identify this site...
Other option is the Beckwith is a schooner which sank in the 1930s
Recent exploration of this area revealed a schooner with the same size and near location of the sinking. More exploration may reveal the positive identity of this wreckage lying in 45 feet of water, eight miles off Cape May, N.J. It remains an interesting dive for all levels of divers in shallow water, and for an exciting introductory novice experience.
