Winthrop
The Winthrop was a fishing trawler, one of twenty sisters built at Bath Iron Works in 1948. Under the Marshal Plan,they were sent to Europe to make up for losses to the French fishing fleet in World War II. Soon after, it was purchased and fished out fo Cape May until it sank at Eirek's Dock in Wildwood in 1984. After 5 years it was raised and was sank on July 12, 1989 as apart of Cape Mays Artificial Reef. This 117 foot ship sits upright allowing divers a high relief in 70 feet of water.
