DIVER RATINGS

Diver Ratings are used to help make wreck diving a safe and fun experience for all divers and crew for each day of diving. Due to the diversity of diver training agencies certifications, Atlantic Divers carefully evaluates all divers to make sure no one is placed on a dive that is beyond their level of comfort and safety.  The captain and crew respect your experience and share your enthusiasm for good wreck diving.  We appreciate your veracity when selecting our dives.

Please have the proper and adequate equipment

essential for your safety on these dives.

  • N = Novice newly certified, student in training, tour guide required. (maximum 80 feet)

  • W Wreck Diver in training for or equal to an introductory wreck diver.  (maximum 110 feet). Tour guides may be required depending on experience.

  • E-S =  Experienced deep wreck diver selected (experience selected beyond 200 feet or any special conditional dives)  Note: Attitudes are evaluated along with experience and certification.

All divers must be properly equipped for the dives selected.

  • Minimum under 100 feet is a main single tank (one cubic foot of gas for each foot of depth plus 10 % minimum) with a pony bottle  (with 2 cubic foot for each 10 foot of depth) or swing bottle, or the option of split tanks or doubles with an isolation manifold. *An octopus is not acceptable for wreck diving. A true alternate system is required for all dives.
  • This includes the use of Nitrox or Trimix for technical diving.  An adequate gas supply(double tanks over 110 feet), with a redundant system.
  • Ascent reels and lift bags are required for all dives over 90 feet.
  • Divers are responsible for their own actions and the use of their personal equipment and rental equipment from Atlantic Divers, whether engaged in depths above or below the recommended sport diving limit of 130 feet.
  • Divers that are ill prepared, have an unsafe attitude, that are under the influence of alcohol or drugs forfeit dive privileges.   Illegal incidents will be reported to authorities.

Safe Wreck Diving is well planned.
